Where it started...

Hello & Welcome,

I'm Clare, Founder of Frosty Buffalo. I grew up in England and moved to Minnesota in 2012. As you can imagine, there are a few things about living in the UK that I miss, one of them being food, and more specifically, sweets.

It all started with Treacle Toffee.....

In the UK, it is a tradition to eat Treacle Toffee (Bonfire Toffee) on Bonfire Night, the anniversary of Guy Fawkes' Gunpowder Plot. It's also tradition to go to a community bonfire and watch the fireworks display. I remember as a young child on Bonfire Night we would visit Grandma and set off a few small fireworks in her tiny backyard. She would always make homemade Treacle Toffee for us. It was brilliant!

I haven't been able to find Treacle Toffee here in the USA, so a couple of years ago, I decided to try making my own. It was pretty good, so I gifted some to friends, family and coworkers. The positive feedback I received got me thinking, 'what if?'.... So, here we are a few years later, bringing Frosty Buffalo's British Treacle Toffee to Minnesota!

More treats from across the pond...

In 2024, we introduced English Vanilla Fudge. "Why not British Vanilla Fudge?", I hear you say. Well, there are different variations of fudge depending on where in Britain you live, and our recipe is an English recipe, hence the name.

Where did the Name
FROSTY BUFFALO
Come From?

You might be mistaken for thinking the name Frosty Buffalo has something to do with us living in the town of Buffalo, MN, however, that is not the case. Although, it does tie in quite nicely.

In 2020, my husband Terry and I went on vacation to Yellowstone National Park. Not only did Terry propose to me on that trip; we also decided that one day we wanted to start a business. As well as appreciating all that Yellowstone has to offer, we spent much of the trip talking wedding plans and potential business names. Terry has admitted he immediately regretted proposing so early on in the trip! Haha. It was October and very cold, and everywhere we went we saw buffalo and they were covered in frost. On our long drive home to Minnesota, Terry suddenly blurted out Frosty Buffalo! I fell in love with the name instantly, and I still love it today! I knew the name Frosty Buffalo would always remind us of that amazing once in a lifetime trip.

OUR LOGO

I took this photograph in Yellowstone National Park. This is the actual buffalo in our Frosty Buffalo logo.
